There are three ways to finds references using search terms:
Search field: Research Topic/Keyword/Concept, Substance Name, CAS Registry Number, notes, and document identifier.
Advanced Search Field(s): Boolean operator (AND, OR, NOT) + search field values, Author Name, Journal Name, Organization Name, Title, Publication Year, Document Identifier (plus CODEN, ISBN, and ISSN).
CAS Lexicon Query Builder: Browse CAS Indexed Concepts and Substances within the CAS General Thesaurus hierarchy and then build reference queries with up to 1,000 terms
You may use the search field and Advanced Search Fields separately or in combination.
For example, I'll enter the substance ibuprofen in the search field.
This search returns 40,449 reference results mentioning ibuprofen.
.
Next, I'll add some Advanced Search Fields:
AND Author Name: Dill, David
AND Patent Identifier: US20180264013
Notes:
The value(s) in the search field are combined with the output of the Advanced Search Fields (operators are processed in OR/AND/NOT order): Ibuprofen AND (Author Name: Dill, David AND Patent Identifier: US20180264013). Important: The first operator selected determines the relationship of Advanced Search Fields and operators to any terms entered in the search field.
You may change the order of the fields by clicking
the Drag icon ()
and moving the field.
This search returns 29 results containing Ibuprofen that also have David Dill as the author and US20180264013 as a patent identifier.
